Tyre makers now pay for recycling
In July 2022 the Government of India added Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for waste tyres to the Hazardous and Other Wastes Rules.
Tyre makers and importers must buy EPR certificates from registered recyclers for a set share of the tyres they sell.
